Barrow Car Wash...

I just checked the weather report and it said that we are up to 18 degrees above. It doesn't seem so cold thought.... more like 30? That weather report must be off. Anyhow, school is out now and spring break-up is in full swing. The snow is almost all melted from our deck and the road is fully exposed to dirt and is no longer ice. Going through spring break-up is messy. There's lots of mud, dirt, and all the rubbish that was hidden under the snow becomes exposed. Messy, yucky, yikes! The worse part are the sink holes that occur once the road defrosts. It's a cruel joke of nature because in order for the roads to defrost we have to have warmer weather. Warmer weather leads to wanting to get out of the house and take a long walk. The only catch are the puddles in those sink holes... do you see what I am getting at?

SINK HOLES + PUDDLES + SPEEDING CARS = BEING SPLASHED FROM HEAD TO TOE

Okay that was a long intro for what I am really trying to get at. Those puddles not only splash up on pedestrians but they also dirty up your car. With temps below freezing washing a car is out. I accidentally froze my gas cap in place when I washed my first car that owned here. I didn't realize that I had froze it shut until I was on empty. Boy did I feel silly! I still kinda blush just thinking about it. My quick fix with a dirty car is a "Barrow Carwash". We did our first Barrow carwash of the year today. So what is a Barrow carwash? It's were you fill a bucket with soapy water, grab a squeegy, and clean them dirty car windows! It makes me feel so much better once we get our windows washed. There's nothing like the sparkle of clean winders. Kinda silly haw? :-)

UPDATE: I just saw a flyer advertising a carwash! For $30's you can get your car washed! Jen asked me when do I wash my car? I must admit that after owning our car for two years I think we've fully washed it once and then had to borrow some garage space to let it fully dry. My friend here in town, Annie, mentioned that they've never washed theirs. It's something isn't it?! I know back where I grew-up this would be unheard of. It didn't matter if you had a clunker as long as you kept your ride squeaky clean.

LOL!!! Well girl, at least you can see out your windows now - and avoid them sink holes!! So the rest of the car stays dirty til' when?

I'll never take clean car windows for granted again!

Too funny! I will gladly send you some our rain to help with the car washing...although, I guess that would end up making those sink holes even worse! ;0)

I have NEVER washed my car!! Have you seen it??!! :o) Totally not worth it since it's a PIECE. We are happily enjoying the instant summer of Fairbanks! The kids play ALL day long outside. It feels so good to get a good long break from Barrow weather. See you in the fall!
