Are You Wondering...

So? How did we fare during out cold snap? We woke to the heat being out. Of all things! I was more concerned with the electricity going out than the heat but it's the heat that matters the most. Without the heat our pipes would freeze and oh what a costly mess that would be not to mention our safety. After lots of praying and calling around town our turn came up with the repairman and it was a paperclip that got our heat back up and running. The paperclip was a temporary fix. The repairman had to run to the office and get a new sensor for us. Before he returned and before our house completely reheated it happened... BLACKOUT!

Yep, that's right! There was a blackout! Usually it's a block or one side of town that goes down but this time it was everyone. By this time I was getting a tad bit concerned and cold. Forty-five minutes later the power came back on and our heating system was repaired! PRAISE GOD! I would hate for you all to finally see what my town looks like on the national news. Anyhow, I put on some extra socks and my scarf and was good to go. I had little Ellie in warm pants and a turtleneck with her fleece snow suit over it. She was snuggly warm and cute too. She didn't care that we had no heat or lights. She took her afternoon nap and played without noticing. As for me and Andew... there by the grace of God we live.

Thank you all for your prayers and concern. I appreciate knowing that you all are thinking kindly of us.

PHOTO DETAILS: Ellie doesn't notice that the heat is out. Her main concern was to stay up while walking with her fleece covered feet. Here she is going after me with the camera and then sifting through the kitchen drawers. These drawers are set aside for her use. I hope someday she'll love to cook with me in the kitchen.

You are living in a permanent adventure! I'm so glad things got fixed quickly and that Ellie was unfazed by it all. It's so comforting to know that God takes care of all the little things too...

Oh, Nancy! I am so glad things turned out okay! That must have made for a very "long" and concerning morning. Your little Ellie looks so... cute all bundled up- it makes me want to pick her up and snuggle! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, as always!

Nancy, glad all is well with you and your family! I can relate to some extent. No power is a difficult thing, but the kids really seem to love it! Take care and stay warm.

Hope you all are warming up! We finally broke the -36 spell with 6" of snow!!! Coming home from 70 to -33 wasn't very nice! PTL that your home was saved from any major repairs from the cold! Been there, done that... not fun!
I'll be thinking of you all!
Hugz,
Candi

Oh my word! I am so glad that your heat and electricity are back on! When we lived in Rochester we had an ice storm one April and our heat was out for a couple of days. It got really cold but we had a fireplace so we all camped out in the front room and borrowed a heater from some friends and that got us through. Ellie is so cute all bundled up. Children are amazing the way they just march happily through trials and still maintain their zeal for life... Thanks for your kind words of encouragement on my blog today they really buoyed me up! Take care!

Nancy , Ellie is so adorable!!! I love the coat. Kids are amazing when they are little as long as they are not tired they role with the punches. I’m glad your back to normal. Being with out power is not fun. We lost power for four days a few winters ago and I do not want to repeat it.
