Flash Card Books

During unpacking today I came across my daughter's shapes and colors flash cards from the Dollar Store.  They were loose and scattered in the bottom of a bag.  Forget the box that they came in... that was destroyed the day they came home with us and seeing them all over like that reminded me of a tip that I ran across way back when.  I don't remember where I saw it but I knew it would come in handy someday.  Book bind them loose flash cards!  Yep, it's an awesome and practical tip to keep any set of flash cards together and organized.

I was about half way through my flash card project when Ellie spotted me punching the binding holes in her precious "play school" cards.  To a three year old, it was hard to convince her that it was alright and that I wasn't breaking them.  She was so relieved to see her new flash card books when I was all done.  I am happy to have them bound.  Now I don't have to worry about them getting scattered about or keeping them all together as a set.

So how did I do it?  I split the deck in to two stacks separated by categories.  Luckily, the flash cards included two cards that I could use for front covers... one for each stack.  From there I traced around one of the cards onto a piece of pink chipboard and cut it out for the back page.  Punched the holes and bound my stacks with my Bind-it-all and that was it.  Project done!

I hope you can use this tip.  It's handy for sure!

Smiles,
~Nancy

Cool idea! I need to do this with my flashcards at scool and I might have to go ahead and get some ready for Lily, too!
