Out of the eight years I've lived here I have finally done it! I caught a snapshot of a LEMMING!!! These guys are so fast and hard to find outside of their burrows. I'm good at finding their tracks all the time. OH, it feels good to finally have got one on film! Ms. Katherine B this one if for YOU!
NOTE: I cropped the photo with the lemming in the center. In case the little guy blended in too well.
UPDATE: Definitely not a foe. I have never found one of these guys in our house or any where else bad. Unlike ermines, an arctic weasel. I've heard of ermines making nests in cars and under houses. They are viscous too. Very scary teeth but they look cute and cuddly and have a fun hop to their step. Back to lemmings... these guys die of fright. Just look at them wrong and they croak over. They are the main diet of the snowy owl. I think they are cute but I'd never try to handle one. They are wild of course.

Wow! I have seen these up in northern Finland, but never thought I'd get a photo of them. They are just too fast.
