Fourth of July

It was an amazing day in the arctic yesterday! God blessed us with great fellowship, food, and fun. To top it off the weather was just right! Just enough wind to keep the mosquitos away and lots of sunshine to keep our faces warm. Our church was having a BBQ so I spent most my day with my church family. In the evening we went back to church for Wednesday night Bible study and prayer. Instead of the usual leading from our Pastor, four men of our church helped with the service. My husband, Andrew, was involved with giving a short patriotic message. There was a second message, a song special, a testimony given, and two sisters were baptized. We had leftover BBQ for dinner and fellowshipped some more. Oh what a wonderful day! Andrew and I went home satisfied from our soul to our bellies.

Today I am sharing some shapshots of the parade. Every July fourth our village celebrates by having a parade, eskimo games, and an eskimo dance. At our parades the participants throw out candy to the us people cheering and looking on. It's so much fun especially when it's not freezing. I brought my parka but I left in the car because all I needed was my jacket. I also had Ellie zipped up next to me. She did great even when the loud fire truck and ambulance sirens went by. Andrew's favorite goodie from the parade was a Frisbee. Mine was an ovenmit that Laurie got from the fire department float. Of course the candy was a bonus. I wonder how long it will take to eat it all. Alex usually helps me eat it all but now he's moved to Cali to go to college. I miss you Bub!

OOPS! I forgot to mention that there was a total of seven baptisms yesterday. The other five were done in the arctic ocean. We missed that because we took Ellie home for a nap.
