Weekend

Hard to believe that the weekend is already coming to an end. It's been a great week of holiday fun. What a blessing to be surrounded by my family and to enjoy the sunlight and warmer weather.  I haven't taken time out yet for a portrait of my new hair-do so I thought I'd share this snapshot of me and my Sweetie. You can kinda get the idea of what it looks like. I had so much taken off and I must admit that I love my my new hair style. It' so easy to take care of and the color is softer. It was worth the money to get it done and for now I don't regret cutting it.

So?  Did you get out shopping on "Black Friday"?  I did... and guess what!  It was all crafting shopping.  I didn't break the bank either.  My Mom and my Mother-in-law went with me and we all had a great time.  We managed to get to two different Michael's stores and over to Beverly Fabrics.  I was pretty good about not going overboard also.  I can't wait to give Laurie all the goodies I snatched up for her.  So far the one item that she wanted I haven't been able to find.  I'll have to search every stamping store on the west coast until I find it.  Big SMILES!!!

Still on holiday,
Nancy

On HOLIDAY

After thirteen hours of travel time both in the air and stuck in various air ports we have finally made it to our destination! What a blessing to report that I am writing this post at my Mom's house!!! I will be posting as I can over the next couple of weeks but it won't all be stamping related as we are on holiday and I don't have access to my stamping stuffs.

One of my first stops and long awaited resturaunt visits was to Maui Taco. Oh, I love their food! NO one can make a fish taco or burrito like Maui Taco. This wonderful chain of Maui-tude has made it's way to California. You don't have to be in Hawaii to find this goodness. They have one a short drive down the street from my Mom's.

What's on today's agenda? I am getting my hair done. Yep, it's been eleven months since my last hair cut and I am so due for a change. My husband is nervous about me getting it cut because he likes my long hairs. Since our Little Ellie has come along it's been really hard for me to enjoy my long hair and now I am looking forward to having some style put back onto my head. I was also thinking of donating eight inches to a charity that makes wigs for cancer patients. Either way I'm getting a new do! I'll post a pic when I can.

If I don't have a chance to get back to the computer... Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Big SMILES,
Nancy

Stamping Fun at Lauries!

It's the third Thursday of the month which means that it's Technique Class at Laurie's. It is always a nice time to get away from home and spend some of the evening with the other stamping ladies of our community. Laurie works hard to prepare for her classes and she always teaches us techniques that I don't think of doing on my own. Tonight we made a starburst card and Christmas card. The starburst card wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. However, it requires concentration. All in all it's worth the effort. I left the card sentimentless in hopes of filling it later to fit the occasion. The Christmas card was fun too. We used tissue paper to cover the snowflakes in the middle. It sure does make for a soft effect.

Thank you Laurie for the awesome techniques! Oh how I appreciate you!
Smiles,
~nance

Note:

I am still in the midst of working on the wedding scrapbook for a client. I am about to be done as far as I can go without actually having the prints. It's been a true learning experience and I thank God for the opportunity to grow. Thanks for checking in on me as I've been a little scarce lately.

Imagine...

This is not stamping related. It's life related...

Can you imagine my surprise when I went to the dishwasher this afternoon to start my daily chores and found that the dishwasher was EMPTY! Their was a note inside that read, "Surprise". My husband had emptied the dishwasher while I was in the shower. That sweetie!!! It lightened my day and sure did make me smile. THANKS Honey!!!

FLOURISHED Christmas

There are so many possibilities with all the Christmas sets that Flourishes currently has out. My most recent creation was with their "Peace" set. The smaller peace dove fit perfectly in the center of this small circle tin from TAC. I used my Spellbinder Nestability dies to cut Basic Grey's new designer paper called Periphery out for paper embellishments. Beads were added along the inside edge of the tin for dimension and bling. Also added were three snowflake brads to match the tin. It was so easy to punch the ribbon hole at the top of the ornament with my crop-a-dile. I had not clue that it would punch through the metal so efficiently. Anyhow, I hope you like this little bobble. I can see it adorning the limb of a Christmas tree or being placed on a pretty Christmas package. Either way, I am going to save it for someone special.

Have a wonderful day!
:-)

Tag-ged

Hey there ladies. Just a quick note to express my thanks to my stamping pals that have tagged me recently... Jana, Kim, and Jen. Here's the post where I've left the answers to the question game. Click Here

Thank you all for bringing a smile to my face and for making me feel so welcome through your emails and sweet comments.

Sincerely,
NG.

PHOTO DETAILS: My husband took this snapshot of me way back when. My parka was a gift from a family from my church. What a blessing to have such a warm and beautiful gift. I have since put a new cover on this parka and now I am ready for a new one. I've worn out the warmth out of my current one. The snow and ice covered ocean is in the background.

I love all the possibilities plain coasters offer. Here I made a plain frame to post the month of January on. It was my plan to hold a monthly class to make a calendar page a month. The first month we will have to make two... January and February. I have to get back to my project now. I will be sure to post as I can.

Thank you for visiting me today. Big SMILES!

Feels like a Friday...

Uhg... I've been out with lots of busy work. I have been commissioned with a wedding scrapbook. Normally I wouldn't want to do a scrapbook but I have come to realize that I need to spend some more time with this type of design. I've been having lots of fun getting this one together too. Right now I am waiting for my supplies to arrive from TAC so I've been sketching it all out. I really like this kind of organization. I should scrap like this more often! I thought I'd share some projects from the past until I am ready to show some peaks of my pet project.

Thanks for visiting me today. I hope you had a nice day.
Smiles,
Nancy

FLOURISHED Wednesday

The November debut of Flourished Elements is stunning. It's a must have for your stamping collection and it should be available starting on November 7th. Secondly, Flourishes has put out a call for designers. They are taking applicants until November 12th. If this is an experience you'd like to be involved with get in your information immediately. You can find all the details on the Flourishes Blog. See this posting: Call for Designers.

Finally, here's my Flourishes creation. I don't know if you can tell what it is just from the photo so I'm gonna let you in on it. It's a spinner Christmas Ornament. Here I used my Spellbinder Nestability dies to cut out all the pieces. Sandwiched in the middle is a square piece of chipboard. To decorate the main part of the ornament I used Flourishes "Rejoice" and the new "Flourished Elements" sets. Stickles was used to decorate the edges of the frame and the ornate tree. I love the way this little ornament twirls. It's so pretty. (Smiles)

Beate's Weekend Challenge #26

Christmas fun!!! This is what I did with Beate's Weekend Challenge #26 and I used one of my new stamps sets from The Angel Company. It's called The Spirit of Christmas. I hardly noticed it in the catty until I saw someone make a card out of it on a blog. Once it caught my eye I just couldn't wait to color it!

Thank you Beate for the sketch!

JEN's Challenge

It's been nice to get some stamping done today. It was my goal not to take myself too seriously. Sometime I can be just too uptight. What better to get my mind off of me than to do a friends sketch challenge. What's more perfect than Jen's Sham Battle Sunday? This sketch was so fun to do. Thanks Jen for the break away from me. HUGS!

No STAMPING Day

I finally sat down and mounted some stamps I've had in my stash waiting for attention. Several times this week I wanted to pull them out and use them but they weren't ready to ink. It feels good to get them all mounted... you know? I've been trying to stick to my guns and index each one. This is new to me and I'm not a pro at it just yet. It's worth every minute to index each stamp. Having the image stamped on my Creative Cling is convenient! Although I am really good at reading text backwards, this sure will come in handy to quickly find what I am looking for. There is still a little bit more time left of today but I think I'll save my stamping for tomorrow.

Before I end, I want to mention Rosella, Corner of Enchantment. She gave me the "You Make Me Smile" award. I must add in return that she makes me smile too. Thank you Rosella for the award. I really needed the cheer today. Big SMILES!

A Wedding Card

I was asked to make a wedding card with a money holder in it. Wedding cards are somewhat of a weak area for me so I've been stress'n over the last day. Thankfully I had some inspiration...PaperTrey's new stamp set! Have you seen Miss Lauries's card that she made for Beate's Weekend Challenge? Oh.... she uses the wedding cake from their new set and it's so pretty! I had to improvise since I don't have the new stamps. (Maybe someday!) For the cake I used some dry embossed patterned paper that I had found in a clearance bin while out of Barrow over a year ago. It was so nice to finally use this treasure. Once I finally figured out what supplies to use I then needed to find a tutorial for the design. It took me about twenty minutes on the net to find several but none were quite what I wanted. I then decided to take a regular card and slap on a pocket on the inside. It was quick and easy. So much so that I might just have to do this one again.

CARD DETAILS:
Dry Embossed Papers from Wal-mart
SU! Blush Blossom
May Arts Ribbon
